Modern acrylic paintings that play with color, texture, negative space, and movement.

My name is Erin Burress and I am a self-taught artist who started painting acrylics for fun in 2004. I have since expanded to mediums such as watercolor, mixed media, and sculptural wood pieces. My aesthetic naturally navigate toward a more modern, geometric form.

I am affectionately known around my studio as the “dot lady” because the way I utilize drops of paint to produce a kaleidoscope of shape and tone. This approach creates deep impasto effects with the paint. I am fascinated by color and love to utilize a robust color pallet in my work. Playing with patterns, texture, and negative space are some of my favorite aspects of my work.

Currently, I am a resident artist at Reno Art Works, in Reno, Nevada. The outdoors, especially the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountains, have inspired a number of my most recent works.
